Days of Bi Polarity : thesocratespot: AAUW : Chapter LXXXXIX

Daniel was sitting inside the Annie's hospital room, all was quiet , the TV was On, but in mute mode, Annie, was awake , but Daniel wasn't sure if she knew her co-ordinates, she was sleeping on the hospital bed facing his side but her eyes were looking mildly animated, she was talking to herself , whispering, gesturing, constantly moving her fingers as if she was playing on an instrument, like a saxophone - Daniel nodded and smiled to himself - she was being diagnosed for a Bi-Polar disorder, 

Someone knocked , two nurses walked in, smiled at Daniel and then started their everyday routine of checking Annie's BP , temperature , ENT to record their daily report, Daniel stepped out , walked to a corner he had discovered , rolled a joint and dragged , held a deep breath and then exhaled, the day was snowing outside , they were at one of Johns Hopkins speciality wards for mentally ill , this part of the hospital was a lot more liberal and free of people , in fact it often looked almost deserted. 

As Daniel dragged on, inhaling and exhaling, watching the snow and the frostiness around, his mind kept pushing him back to days he had not thought about for a while, it was almost a fifteen years since Annie had migrated to the US, she had qualified through GRE & GMAT to join Harvard ( she could appear for both since she had engineering and literature as joint electives ) and then Daniel too migrated to New York, working for an Investment banker . 

Daniel couldn't deny the fact they both - Annie and him - were a pair , they were two people who were so comfortable with each other that at times even Annie's best of male partners became very uncomfortable with their chemistry. 

And even today, Annie after four marriages, four other relationships , four divorces and having almost seven children from each of her relationship living in different parts of the world, she still looked like she was the same woman who had just started her life's journey - she looked fresh, frail, lost but if someone were to look deeper then they would have found Annie very smart and desirable , one look at her even in this condition would tell anyone who's observing her that she wasn't your everyday person - and she was open to all possibilities. 

Daniel inhaled and exhaled his grass , saw that the stick was burning slow due to the weather and smiled as he thought of a particular incident - 

He and Annie were generally surfing on the net together at her Harvard hostel room , she was then in a relationship with a Jr. Lecturer , she was narrating a time when she went visiting this man's house, the guy only had his mother living with him, his father was dead, after the preliminary intros, the guys mother went back to her knitting and they sat down to watch some TV, Annie decided to sit on the floor saying she was comfortable that way, the guys mother was knitting just behind , as they were watching TV Annie leaned her head onto the Jr. lecturers legs just for support , before long she was giving him a job and the mother behind had no clue .

Daniel , screamed , smiled loud and then threw his marijuana stick. 

When he stepped into Annie's chamber, the nurses had left and Annie was in a trance.
